Code (Radcliffe, A.B., 1918), was a Red Cross volunteer in Boston during World War I, married writer and critic, Grant Code, held editorial, secretarial, and singing jobs, and went to India seeking intellectual and spiritual satisfaction after the death of her only son, and on the request of Swami Yatiswarananda, whose lectures she had attended and helped edit in Philadelphia. Grant Hyde Code was a well-known writer and lecturer on theater and dance. A 1918 graduate of Harvard University, he, after World War I service, taught English at Harvard, Radcliff and other institutions of higher education. A former editor of Dance Observer, he was the founder and manager of the Brooklyn Museum Dance Center (1935-1938) which sponsored recitals and exhibitions.
